Brochure Launch 2008

Hi there!

We had a great series of spring walks in 2007, with 3 Cape to Capes and 3 Bibbulmun walks based at Denmark. We had some cool and wet weather but then some wonderful sunny days too. The photos are posted  to flickr.com/photos/inspirationoutdoors/sets and there are some blogs on my website: inspirationoutdoors.com.au

After I finished my trips, I drove from Sydney to Perth by campervan and since Christmas I've been working, socialising and enjoying Perth's summer evenings. I've outlined the 2008 programme below. This information will be on the website soon and the brochure out in another couple of weeks. However the detailed trip info is available now, so email me if you would like it or if you wish to book a trip now.

I'm holding a "Brochure Launch" night on  Friday February 8th    when the new brochure will be released. It's not just  an information night,  it's also a chance to catch up with people you may have met on trips. Once again, we'll have our "Trip Raffle"- anyone who attends the launch and who pays a deposit for a trip on that night (or who has already paid one) goes into the draw to win $100 off their trip.

Brochure Launch:  7.30pm Friday Feb 8th

172 Swan St West, Guildford (cnr Meares St)

                                  Drinks and nibblees provided

                                   RSVP: ASAP (email/phone)

If you would like a hard copy of the brochure sent out please let me know. The pdf will be on the website soon.

Ningaloo and Karijini 2008

Ningaloo and Karijini 2008

This is a new trip aimed at enticing those of you who like to both kayak and walk. We'll spend 4 days kayaking Ningaloo reef from a base camp. This section is run by Hal Paine from Capricorn Seakayaking and I'll be assisting him. Hal has been running tours at Ningaloo for years and knows all the best snorkelling spots. As we have a base camp we don't have to pack and unpack kayaks each day. We use 2 person sea kayaks which are suitable for novices. However, if anyone is unsure, then I can arrange for you to have a try of  a sea kayak here at Guildford. Just let me know.

The second part of the trip repeats the best of last year's trip with Coates Wildlife Tours. The bus meets us in Exmouth and we drive across to Karijini where we'll spend 5 days exploring peaks and gorges. The climb up Mt Bruce is magnificent and the gorges are amazing. Then we drive to the MIllstream-Chichester Range National Park where we have more time for hiking.

This 14 day trip is priced at $3300 (with a $50 discount for previous customers), but airfares are additional and need to be booked sooner rather than later. We fly into Exmouth and out of Karratha, in order to minimise the road travel.

If the trip does not fill, then there may be places available separately for the kayaking and hiking sections. Let me know now if you are interested in this option.

Date: May 12-25

Cost: $3300

Kimberley Explorer

We had such a good time on the Karijini trip last year, we've decided to go further afield this year! We link up once again with Coates Wildlife Tours and  their 4WD coach and the fabulous Rick Curtis. This is a 13 day trip from Broome to Kununurra along the Gibb River Road, exploring as many gorges along the way as we can, diverting to Mornington Station and then spending 3 days in the Bungle Bungles. Right now the trip is fully booked by those who expressed an interest after the last newsletter. However, when trips are booked this far in advance there are usually cancellations so let me know if you want to go on the wait list.

Date: July 18-30.

Cost: $3400

Cape to Cape

Cape to Cape

I've scheduled 2 Cape to Capes for 2008, both in October, to take advantage of the wildflowers and also, hopefully, the mild weather. We'll be based in Augusta for both of these trips and they will be 8 day trips with 7 walking days.  This is a fantastic walk and there is no better way to do it  than the way we do it, returning to great accommodation and food each evening.

Dates: Oct 1-8 and Oct 11-18

Cost: $1900

Denmark Based Walking Trips

Denmark Based Walking Trips

Once again, I'm offering 2 different Bibbulmun Track trips based at Denmark- Albany to Denmark and Walpole to Denmark. Due to the popularity of the Walpole trip, there are 2 dates this year. The Albany one is the easier one, covering 75 km,whilst the Walpole one is more challenging at 125km. Both trips are based at the magical Cove chalets on Wilson Inlet.

Dates: Albany to Denmark: Oct 21-Oct 27 Cost: $1650

            Walpole to Denmark: Oct 30-Nov 7 and Nov 10-Nov 18 Cost: $1900

Digital Dwellingup

This is an opportunity to hone your photography skills in the field.  A professional photographer, Karen Castle, will teach you all sorts of useful tricks in this 3 day trip based at Dwellingup. You will receive immediate feedback via a laptop computer and hopefully contribute to an interesting slide show at the end of the 3 days!

Date: September 2-4

Cost: $550

Dwellingup Delights

This year our winter weekend escape is based at the beautiful Banksia Springs in Dwellingup. There's some great walking to be had by day and we'll enjoy the cosy accommodation by evening.

Date: August 15-17

Cost: $330

Astronavigation

Astronavigation

We're running one of our unique astronavigation weekends in March. On this trip you must find your way around the desert behind the Pinnacles, using only the stars! It's a fantastic experience and we haven't lost anyone yet!

Date: March 15-16

Cost: $180

Moonlight Paddle

Summer is a great time to enjoy those warm (well hot) summer evenings. And what better way than on the river? Join me for an evening paddle by the light of the silvery moon! Just bring a plate of finger food to share. We'll paddle from near my house to a spot beside the river, have dinner, paddle back and then enjoy coffee and cake on my deck. Two trips are scheduled.

To make the trips more family-friendly, I'm offering free trips for children under13-to travel in the middle of their parent's canoe. If you have more than one child under 12, phone me- maybe we can find another canoe for them!

Two person Canadian canoes supplied, no experience necessary. Coffee and cake inc.

Date:  Feb 17 and Feb 21
Time; 6pm-10pm
Meet: 172 Swan St West, Guildford (cnr Meares St)
Bring/Wear: Shoes to get wet, change of clothes, drinks, plate of food to share (in a small container)
