CTC and Walpole-Denmark 2010
We had two great trips this spring, one on the Cape to Cape and the other on the Bibbulmun. We had a large group of 15 based at Augusta for the Cape walk and every day was a highlight. We had Adrian Carrier leading the walk and Jane Scott was along on several days to provide her expertise. The flowers were as amazing as ever and the weather kind. Click here for the blog and photos.
The weather was not so kind on the Walpole- Denmark walk, as after a very warm first day, it went to rain, rain and more rain. However the tingle forest looks good in rain! Luckily the weather improved as the week progressed so that by the time we reached Green's Pool, the sun was shining and the water inviting. The final day provided a spectacular ascent of Mt Hallowell, with views to die for and boulders to admire. Click here for the blog and photos.
Retirement!
After 12 years of running Inspiration Outdoors I have decided to hang up my boots! Well at least as far as Inspiration Outdoors is concerned. I hope to spend more time doing walks I haven't done and travelling to parts of the world I haven't seen. Steve and I will be spending more time in Canada, so I've decided to wind up the business now. It won't be the end completely, I hope to still lead some trips for Coates (see below). and I may still do some day trips.
It's been a wonderful 12 years, meeting some great people, many of whom have become good friends. Thanks to everyone who has supported me, and I hope we keep in touch. I'm trying to figure out how to maintain a mailing list, so that you can be kept informed of any relevant trips I may be involved in.
New Zealand 2011
Coates are again offering this unique trip. It's a walking tour of the South Island of New Zealand that takes in some lesser walked routes. You have a local guide, Martin Curtis, as well as a naturalist, Richard Curtis, and they'll take you to some inspiring places for mostly day walks. It includes Mt Cooke National Park, the Catlins, the Remarkables and Stewart Island. Also included is s 3 day trip into Mt Aspiring National Park. At $4255 this is really good value for a 15 day trip, as it includes all meals and accommodation at some wonderful lodges and historic pubs. To book, contact Coates on 93306066 . The trip itinerary is on my website.
Lord Howe Island 2011
As I said, I won't be retiring completely. I'm working with Coates at the moment to develop a walking itinerary for a tour of Lord Howe Island, probably in October 2011. When I asked earlier this year about several destinations, this one was the most popular. If you are interested please email me now so you'll get the information as soon as we have it. If you were one of those who indicated an interest earlier, then please let me know if you are still interested.
Paddle Trips Over Summer
I have a few of these planned:
LEFTOVERS CHRISTMAS PADDLE Sunday 26th December 26 5pm-10pm
This is a nighttime paddle designed to relax you after your Christmas celebrations and to clean out the fridge! Bring your Chrissie leftovers to share and we’ll paddle from Coode St, South Perth, enjoying the sun set as we eat our dinner on Heirrison Island. We finish by cruising the Claisebrook Cove under the twinkling lights. Celebrate Christmas in the best way possible! On the river! Two person Canadian canoes provided.
BREAKFAST PADDLE Monday 3rd January 8am -12noon
Start the day on the right foot- with this summer morning paddle from Deep water Point to Lucky Bay, about 8km, stopping for a cooked breakfast en route. Two person Canadian canoes provided.
MOONLIGHT PADDLE Thursday 20th January 5pm-10pm
This is a favourite! Enjoy the sunset as you paddle to a dinner destination. Then share your finger food goodies with your paddling partners. After the sun sets we return by the light of the silvery moon- to coffee and cake overlooking the river. Two person Canadian canoes provided.
If you are interested in any of these trips, please email me.
Merry Christmas
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and exciting New Year with lots of travels to exciting places!
