We can take more for the paddling section at Ningaloo but only one more for the walking part of the trip. We'll be hiking the fabulous Karijini gorges, clambering up Mt Bruce and conquering the highest peak in WA- Mt Meharry. Email me now if you want this last spot -or if you want to join us for the wonderful paddling trip at Ningaloo. Check out the trip details.

WOW! This is a trip planned for late Feb-early March 2009. It's a walking trip like you won't find anywhere else! We plan to travel by bus between Christchurch and Queenstown, doing a variety of walks  en route. It will include the Hooker Valley and glacier near Mt Cook, the Otago Peninsula, the Catlins area, part of the wild southern coastal track, the Remarkables, the Pisa Range, the Matukituki valley in Mt Aspiring National Park. Most of the walks are day walks but there are 2 overnight walks where overnight gear (as little as possible) will be carried. Accommodation ranges from mountain huts to historic pubs. No camping. The itinerary is designed to maximise the amount of time spent walking and taking in a wide variety of scenic locations, vegetation and wildlfie. You'll experience glaciers, snow and ice, virgin beech forest and rugged coastline. The trip is being organised by Coates Wildlife Tours and the leaders will be Rick Curtis, our naturalist from the Pilbara and Kimberley trips, his brother Martin who lives in NZ and who has been tramping there for 30 years, and myself. We don't have any prices yet (start saving) but I am starting an interest list. We expect the trip to be very popular, so please email me if you want to be contacted as soon as we have more information. You will need to be a fit  experienced walker capable of walking for up to 8 hours a day, though many of the walks will be  shorter.

More Paddle trips

We've had some great paddle trips over summer- the last moonlight one was a fabulous still evening. And we had a very enjoyable paddle on the Canning on Easter Monday, winding our way through some interesting passages, trying to play poker en route! The winning hand was held by Sue who left with an oversized Easter rabbit.

Last week I did a terrific paddle on the Moore River and loved it so much I'm going back again- on Anzac Day. There's quite a lot of water in the river at the moment, and we paddled a fair way upstream. So if you're interested let me know.

Moore River Paddle: Friday 25th April, 9am-3.30pm

Meet: 9am Wilbinga Picnic Area , LHS  Wanneroo Rd, about 23km north of Yanchep Beach Rd.

Bring/Wear: Shorts, shirt, bathers, change of clothes, lunch, water, shoes to get wet

Cost: $35, inc morning tea

Final Moonlight Paddle: Wednesday 23 April 4.30-9pm

I've decided to squeeze one more moonlight paddle in due to the great evenings we're having at the moment.

Meet: 4.30pm 172 Swan St West (cnr Meares St)

Bring/Wear: Paddle clothes, shoes to get wet, water, finger food to share in a small container

Cost: $35, inc coffee and cake afterwards

Where are all the Cape to Cape walkers this year? Has everyone done it? Both my walks are in October this year- because it is the best time to walk this brilliant coastline, when the wildfowers are stunning. Click here for more info

Meanwhile it seems everyone wants to walk from Walpole to Denmark. There are still places on the second trip but they are filling fast.

If you would like a more leisurely walk try Albany to Denmark. Of if you just want a weekend escape try our weekend at Dwellingup, which is also starting to fill up.

And don't forget   Digital Dwellingup, a chance to do things you didn't think possible with your digital camera. If you just point and shoot then this trip is for you!

Remember: previous clients are entitled to $50 off extended trips, and there is a $50 discount if  you pay your deposit before June 20th. Also if you refer someone you receive another $50 off. I will be up north for most of May and then in Queensland in June, so the more administration I do now, the easier it will be for Ginny, who will look after things while I'm away.

Website Update

Soon you'll see a new look to my website. My computer guru, Ian Cheok, is working on it right now and we hope it will make it even easier to find your way around. It will also include a paddle section. Any feedback is welcome.
